I’ll introduce you to watercolour & give a breakdown of essential supplies. We’ll cover foundational techniques such as mark making, gestural marks, wet on wet, pattern play and how to do them. By practising these you’ll be well equipped to paint our botanicals, as well as use them for your own creative expression.

101 Colour

Colour Theory

Learn to create your own colours! I’ll guide you through Colour Theory 101 and how to create primary, secondary + warm and cool colours. We’ll do colour mixing on colour swatches + you’ll learn to paint your own colour wheel. You’ll gain confidence in creating the colours you want for your art.

Final Artworks

Painting Botanicals

I’ll introduce you to a loose style of painting in Watercolours. You’ll learn how to use brush pressure, strokes and movement to create 3 leaves and bud / blooms. These will include a botanical cluster, a botanical wreath, and a round botanical piece.

Hey friend! I’m Krystee Iris. A mama, artist and lover of all things watercolour, living in Wellington, NZ. My three lively lads – Louis, Lachlan, and Lennox – keep my days full of energy (and a bit of mayhem). Painting in my home studio gives me a balance, and rhythm and brings beauty into everyday life.   • Do I need any prior experience in watercolour painting?

    No. The course is designed to guide you through foundational techniques to finish paintings together. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you'll find value in the course.

  • What materials will I need?

    You'll need basic watercolour supplies such as brushes, paints, and paper. These can be purchased with the course and sent out to your home address in NZ. A list of recommended materials will be provided with the course if you want to get your own supplies.

  • How long will I have access to the course?

    You will have lifetime access to the course materials, so you can learn at your own pace and revisit the video lessons whenever you want.

  • What if I have questions during the course?

    You can ask these in the Private FB Community. I’d love for us to learn and grow together so post any questions, or paintings you want to celebrate in there. Alternatively, you can message me on instagram or email me directly & I’ll do my best to help.

  • Can I really learn to paint online?

    Absolutely! These carefully crafted lessons, video demonstrations, and downloadable resources provide a rich learning experience. You'll be able to see each step clearly and practice at your own pace.

  • How much time do I need to dedicate to the course each week?

    The course is self-paced, so you can allocate as much or as little time as you'd like. However, setting aside 30 mins - 1 hour per week would allow you to fully immerse yourself in the learning process and establish a creative practice. Totally up to you.

  • Can I sell the artwork I create during the course?

    The artworks you’ll create with me, digital downloads and reference material are not to be used for sale and are under copyright. You can use the skills you develop and create your own artwork to sell. As you’re creating, I’d love to see anything you’re painting.
